Correcting Meter Upgrade Errors for a Property Group

Energy Case Study

The Issue:

One of our clients, a large property group with over 100 metres, encountered operational challenges following a series of meter upgrade appointments. The new meter information was not successfully transmitted to the National Database, ultimately causing the property group multiple hurdles such as operational inefficiency, inaccurate billing and tenant impact, as some of the meters facing difficulties were residential.

The Resolution:

We immediately began to raise a request with the client’s energy supplier to identify all upgraded meters, pinpointing the exact dates of their upgrades, and determining the specific readings on which the client had been incorrectly invoiced. Recognising the financial impact on the customer, we took proactive steps to mitigate further incorrect billing. We submitted accurate meter readings to the energy supplier and formally requested that all incorrect invoices be rectified based on the verified data we provided.

During this process, we identified one specific meter that required further commissioning due to a persistent loss of signal. To address this, we promptly arranged for the necessary commissioning appointment.

The property group expressed significant relief and satisfaction with BP Consulting’s efforts. The prompt rectification of their issues not only alleviated financial stress but also significantly improved client relations and trust. Ultimately, BP Consulting’s expertise provided the property group with the accurate and reliable meter data they desperately needed, restoring their peace of mind and allowing them to focus on their core business with renewed confidence.

We successfully secured an appointment date, confirming it repeatedly to prevent any discrepancies and to verify that a 3-phase engineer would perform the meter installation. Furthermore, we assisted the customer in setting up their online portal, enabling them to view their issued invoices.
